I wasn't planning any photography today but skunk visited and so I couldn't risist! Unfortunately, I had to take one of my lenses in for repair a couple of days ago.. Now Im limited to just my telephoto lens, which I don't have much experience with yet. I composed these portraits at home by the window.. I used my new 5 in 1 reflector to bounce the natural light onto his face.

I was in the conservatory today,there is a small rockery inside. These are a couple of images that I found interesting. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the flower is called... I shall find out soon.

I photographed the second image a couple of years ago. I photographed at a low angle looking straight up to show how I used to see it as a small child. It was so big back then!

Burnley War Memorial, Towneley Park.

This is a beautiful monument. It displays a visible expression of emotions that are felt in our hearts. I think about the duties fulfiled by those who lost their lives and all those who remain and their feelings of comfort and thankfulness.

It features a cenotaph which merges into carved busts of a soldier, an airman and a sailer. Below, standing at either side are two female figures, representing a mother and a sister or wife. The mother is laying a wreath and she is next to a rosmary bush symbolising rememberance and a cricket bat and ball, representing childhood. The sister or wife carries garlands and she looks up at the figures.

The stutue was sculptured by a talented designer and craftman called Walter Gilbert and the help of another craftsman, Louis Weingharter.

The memorial was unveiled on the 12th of December 1926 by the Earl of derby.

I love these next two... I like that the compositions are simple and the varied tones of white and green create strong and interesting images.

Wild Yellow Flower (Ranunculus ficaria)

This one is the portrait version of a previous post, although I think I prefer the landscape one.

I used Photoshop to help create warmth with the images and halo effects to draw you in. The first one is on here because I love the twisty branches and the light showing through from behind. The second one is a landscape version of another, soon to go up on here. I found this place to be somewhat magical, the sunlight shone through and lit up the area in the middle whilst everywhere else remained in shadow. I enhanced the image by adding a halo to darken the edges even more... this intensifies the area in the centre.

A walk through Towneley Park, Burnley..

Me and Grace went for a walk around our local park today and it was glorious. The next few posts will be of few shots I took there.

Iv'e been quite busy recently and when I say busy, I mean distracted! My little Grace certainly knows how to keep me off this computer. These next few are portaits of Tom, using my Canon 40D. Location: Towneley park, Burnley

It was my birthday a few days ago and I was given a lovely bouquet of carnations. I sat them on the window sill and one day the sun shone though the vase and created wonderful reflections on the sill. I applied a filter to add warmth to the image.

This is an improved version of the image below. The hair was to static and didn't match with the second, close up portrait of my model, Sam.

I had my friend over the other day and persuaded her to let me take a few photo's. I had fun making these images fun and vibrant. I gave my model Sam, purple hair as I thought this would go superbly with her red top... both colours are totally different but work well together in making this portrait unusual and fun! I quite like the tattoos on her arm...
